Why Michelin should be banned from F1

Firstly, The 3 teams that took part in the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis were not at fault. Ferrari was not at fault. There were rules and the other decided that they wanted to change it. How would you like it if a cricket game was to be cut down to 25 overs if the shoes of one team were not made right ?

How would you like it if a professional football team demanded to not be tackled, coz their suits were not built right ?

Michelin was responsible for supplying tyres. They had two sets (this is not entirely clear) but all teams decided to qualify with the bad set. A professional corporation like Michelin should have made sure that they tested and made the results available way before the race, not the morning of.

If someone is to blame, it is Michelin. There was nothing the FIA could do, if a chicane was added, the FIA rightly said they would pull off their name and would not make the race official. They were absolutely right. Why should the FIA make changes coz Michelin F'ed up ?

And stop blaming Ferrari. They have had bad tires for the whole season and they took the brunt. Now you want to blame them again for Michelin's fault. This just ain't right.

I think Michelin should be banned not just from F1 but also from racing in whole. Again a professional organization should not be making mistakes like this and certaily not at this level of sporting.

More commentary on this will follow.

The FIA made changes with Bridgestone made a mistake at Brazil in 2003. The way they could not compromise on Sunday is hypocisy in the extreme. As I said, the only reason Bridgestone knew about the Indy surface was because of insider information from their parent company which Michelin did not have access to.
