Answering machine messages - how NOT to....

Answering machines are one of the coolest inventions. It allows you to screen calls, not pick up your phone and piss people off and more importantly leave that nasty breakup message without talking to the person.

But of late people have been pissing me off, leaving messages on my answering machine. I always get that "Call me back as soon as you get this message" in a very tense tone. The whole point of an answering machine is to leave a message that means something. I have caller id and I know you called and yes, unlike most people who I know (sorry prabhu) I will return calls. But if you are going to leave me a message, tell me something that I already dont know. As soon as I hear a message like "call me back ASAP", I go holy shit, he crashed his car again or he got fired again. So please stop doing that.

Always leave your name in the message. I have had messages where the person calls me after a gazillion years. For some reason I do not have their number on my phone and I dont really know who called, so what do you do at this point ? You try to decipher the message and guess who it could be. If you really want me to call you back, leave your name, If you have been good to me, I might just call you.

And finally... never ever ever leave a message from a club or a concert. You guys have no clue about how difficult it is to listen to such a message the first thing in the morning. It not just hurts emotionally knowing that I could not go out, coz I had to get my ass to work, but also straining my ears to catch every thing you said is not something I wanna do early in the morning. So find a quiet nook if you wanna leave me a message.

Still better send me a Text message.
